Freliar Earth Lover by ~PederAndersson:iconPederAndersson:

Freliar Earth Lover.

He had spent his childhood crying because he was not strong enough, spent his adolescence with sword in hand practising under Shard Master Talnar Heiz but left his village as a young swordsman. Freliar Kamwaii the son of unknown parents brought to the village by seven elder Ogre-men on a day when the sun was hidden behind the moon. Today he leaves the place of his upbringing to follow the image and call of his dreams. In deep sleep he sees a woman dance before the eyes of his mind, fair brown hair billows from her head and her body moves slow and precise. Also a song rings in his head delivered to him from her lips and called him, urged him to leave on this journey.

So he left the shelter of his youth and ventured into land following the sound and imagery within. Ventured through deep forests, above high mountains, through the canyon Quedstra and past the fire of Kzarda to the great chamber of ancient King Furion and there he feasted for eight days and nights until the festivities were wrecked by a drunken man challenging Freliar to a duel and with no sword to defend himself with the ancient King Furion handed him the Falcon blade Falx and with it he slew the drunken man.

The kind King allowed him to keep the blade and it became Freliar's companion as he crossed the dessert of despair and entered the land of Laenar where the song within him echoed stronger then ever before. He search the land, each cave, forest and meadow until one day in a open grove saw a woman tending to her broken dress. She was the woman he had seen in his dream, her face that he had viewed many nights and her song even more beautiful as he heard it undamaged by distance.

The woman greeted him with a soft embrace, said she had been waiting for him and with her he stayed for many days and night. They ate from the trees, drank from the rivers and made love on the flowerbeds. But when the woman realised she bore child in her womb she banished Freliar from the land of Laenar.

He left the land constantly looking over his back hoping again to see her face, his deep love for her remained and he dressed in black and vowed only to wield the Falx in her name, Gaea.

He began travelling back over the dessert of despair and as he reached the kingdom of ancient King Furion he saw that the land had changed. What once had been plains stretching endlessly before him were now mountains, lakes and rivers had drained while others been born and some forests grown stronger while others had died.

No scholar or Ogre-man knew why the world had changed, many looked to the stars for answers, others sought the heart for reply but none arrived at a conclusion. Nine months after Freliar had left Gaea a massive earthquake shook the world and the dessert of despair became flooded and released from the land of Laenar was a angel that aimed for the sky carried on silver wings.

Flaér was her name, Freliar was her father, Gaea her mother and the sky her kingdom.

To this day a man garbed in black still roams the earth his sword sheathed the cross guard with bright blue eyes like the swordsman own and in the rain the curious child can see the man cry over the memory of his lost lover.

Nice piece, it was very poetic and reminded me of the way people write myths and legends. Very epic.
